Tourism Update – Eco friendly Hotel in Bohinj

Bookmark and Share

In the heart of Triglav National Park lies the peak framed Alpine Lake Bohinj. This idyllic lake offers its visitors pristine waters ideal for canoes and kayaks and stunning views of the Julian Alps all around. Designing a hotel to fit properly with this abundance of nature is no easy task. In typical Slovenian fashion, where anything worth doing is worth doing well, the architects and builders have executed a welcome design that should please nature enthusiasts as well as business executives seeking an inspiring meeting space.

The newly opened Park Hotel Bohinj has 102 rooms, 7 luxury suites, a honeymoon suite and a presidential suite with its own terrace and outdoor pool. This ecologically designed hotel also has 8 conference rooms of different sizes to meet the needs of the most demanding business guests. The exclusive wellness centre at the top of the hotel features an unparallel panoramic view from its open swimming pool. The hotel itself is connected via an underground corridor to the extensive Aquapark nearby. One special feature of the hotel’s pool is the 430m deep geothermal well which is used to generate electricity and heat for the hotel and the Aquapark. A low-temperature heating system was incorporated throughout the hotel utilizing under floor heating with hot water and climate beams that help reduce energy consumption while simultaneously ensuring soothing warm heat for its fall and winter guests.

Extensive use of LED lighting throughout has been calculated to reduce energy consumed for lighting by up to 2500%! A worthwhile investment in the future indeed!
