Embassy Hosts Top Chef Slovenia

Bookmark and Share

Although there were no challenges and no drama, some of the best cooks at the US Embassy as well as the Ambassador’s personal chef shared their favorite personal recipes to create classic American dishes for the popular Slovene magazine “Odprta kuhinja”. Angie Gordon, showing her Southern heritage, made a delightful banana pudding, a specialty regional dish found usually below the Mason-Dixon line. Anita Smith cooked a homemade chili and corn bread, a lethal combination against any diet. Sue Shultz enticed both the sweet and savory with her Hollywood style cheesecake and Easter pie. Vladimir Mirkovič, the resident chef at the Ambassador’s residence, made the ever popular beet soup, seasonal crab-cakes, and another southern favorite, cornmeal crusted chicken with mango and black bean salsa. Unlike the TV show, no one was eliminated and everyone enjoyed the taste of homemade American dishes from all over the US
