Junior Chorus

“Let’s start at the very beginning…..a very good place to start….when you read you begin with A-B-C, when you sing you begin with DO-RE-MI!”.  Most of you know those words from the musical, “The Sound of Music”.

The “Sound of Music” is a musical with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. It is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp. Many songs from the musical have become standards including the title song, “The Sound of Music”, “Edelweiss”, “My Favorite Things”, and “Do-Re-Mi”. This is one of my favorite musicals and I even had the opportunity to go on the Sound of Music Tour in Salzburg, Austria.

Under the direction of Shirley Ivancic Stall, the children of Circle 2 will put on a performance consisting of songs from “The Sound of Music” along with various polka and waltzes. The annual Fall concert is set for Sunday, November 15, 2009 in the lower hall at the Slovenian Society Home 20713 Recher Ave Euclid, Ohio 44119. The doors will open at 1pm and the concert will begin at 2pm.

The cost of the tickets is $7 and any former Circle 2 members will be admitted at a discounted price of $5; children under the age of 18 are free. I would love to see as many alumni there to support their former group.

Following the concert, we have asked some local musicians to help provide music for your listening pleasure. Sandwiches, desserts and beverages will be available for purchase.
