Learn the Slovenian Language at the College Level
Are you planning a trip to Slovenia, wish to speak to your Slovenian relatives in Slovenian, or wish to research your Slovenian family’s genealogy? Then the college-level Slovenian classes at Cleveland State University and Lakeland Community College might be for you.
Beginning Slovenian will be offered at both Cleveland State University and Lakeland Community College. Intermediate Slovenian will be available only at Cleveland State’s main campus. Students can obtain college credit for both levels of these language classes, if they wish.
The professor, Luka Zibelnik from the University of Ljubljana, is an expert in teaching Slovenian as a foreign language. He includes much more in his classes such as the history and culture of the country, its literature and yes, even daily life in modern Slovenia! Students who took these low pressure classes last year found them to be interesting and enjoyable.
To sign up for these Slovenian classes, contact the Admissions Office at CSU or LCC. Classes are offered in the late afternoon and early evening and begin August 24th. Students over the age of 60 can take the classes at CSU tuition-free through Project 60. A senior discount is also available at Lakeland Community College. The sessions are on Monday and Wednesday at CSU, and Tuesday and Thursday at LCC. Rebates, in proportion to the tuition, are available for students completing the course.
