"...Featured is a 10-canvas painting installation, "The Blue Tattoo Long Island," by Slovenian artist, Gasper Jemec. Jemec conceived this bold abstraction as a site-specific work for the Salamatina Gallery. Designed to fill two adjoining walls, the painting covers not only the surface of each interlocked canvas but the sides as well, alluding to the stretching of skin over a body and the function of a tattoo. Depicted in this vivid tableau are elements which Jemec encountered through his connections with the people, landscape and beauty of Long Island. Other works by Jemec include a series The Wings, and two abstract paintings in acrylic gelatin, a technique which the artist conceived and perfected himself..." (Salamatina Press Release)
